Systematic, prearranged patterns of sword techniques performed with a partner (or partners). As with gumpup, kukgum are used to teach mind/body coordination, and mental and physical aptitude. Respect for the sword blade is paramount. Kukgum also present the student with coordination and synchronization with movements of others.
HOSINSHUL (one step sparring)
Systematic, prearranged patterns of sword techniques performed with a partner (or partners). As with gumpup and kukgum, hoshinsul are used to teach mind/body coordination, and mental and physical aptitude. Respect for the sword blade is still paramount. But hoshinsul also presents the student with coordination with movements of others while concentrating on both striking and blocking. Hosinshul means self-defense and in reality involves several steps to attack and defend.
